FIELD NOTES FROM THE BOTANIST:
Common Name: Jamaican Mint
Botanical Name: Satureja viminea
Attractive evergreen bearing aromatic “tropical mint”! Unlike the well-known peppermint, this plant has a woody stem, upright growth and keeps a bushy shape reaching heights of 6ft. Small green rounded foliage recalls the taste of mint with the addition of a nice peppery note.
Properties: This pure scent is down right invigorating. It’s a natural stimulant than can boost energy and increase the ability to concentrate during times of mental fatigue.
Forage: Commonly found in Trinidad, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands
